Palatine Hill, Rome

4.5
Civilization was managed for centuries from Palatine Hill, the commercial, religious, and political center of ancient Rome. The city on top of this hill looks down upon the age-old forum from a height of about 40 m (131 ft). Once an inhospitable marshland, the area was gradually drained and then turned into a hub of the city's political and economic activities. You may want to visit more than once to see everything, so remember that your ticket is good for two days. You can access these sites only by foot over a bumpy path with stones from the ancient Roman period. You may want to rent an audio guide at a nearby booth. Put Palatine Hill and other Rome attractions into our Rome holiday planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • one of the most amazing places in Rome. It transports you to ancient history. It hits and falls in love with. 100% recommended. If you take entry there same too you for Palatine and the Coliseum

  • Remove the entry to the Forum with the Coliseum. This very much in ruins and the audio guide was not so clear, but worth see, and continue learning about its history. It is very large, to devote time to walk around and take pictures.

  • I had a tour guide called Stan from Canada he was brilliant. If I didn’t have Stan I wouldn’t know what I was looking at. He gave me an understanding of the importance of the hill. Worth a look even if you don’t know anything about it.
  • Well you can't say you went to Rome and not go to the palatine Hill and the roman forum. Beware though. The line is enormous and especially during hot days waiting can be unbearable. There are other entrances (like the one near the vittoriano) to the roman forum and from there you can get to the palatine Hill. Bring with you some water because you'll definitely need it. Once you're there the view is great and there are a lot of things to see.
  • This place was part of our tour with City Wonders. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable of the history behind the place. He took the time to explain, gave us time to rest and drink water, and made sure we all were following him at all times. The view from the hill is beautiful. Since the walkways are all rocks, you have to be very careful, or you can ruin your vacations with a twisted ankle. I would definitely recommend to visit this place with a guide, otherwise, you would not find the place as interesting. My daughters are 11 and 14, so I was worried they were not going to enjoy the tour, but they did. Even with the heat of July. Also, if you are visiting in the summer, don’t forget to bring a bottle of water, which you are going to be able to refill inside, sunscreen, and a hat or umbrella.
  • Worth the visit if you like history, views and just sightseeing. Wear comfortable shoes and if you've just ate half your body weight in food and Ice cream I wish you the best of Luck!
  • This place is not really so high actually but the scenaey is so good. Cause i can see the roma forum almost overall the area from this beautiful hill... there is so may cute birds there too.. so you can play with them and interact but if you are lucky enough.. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
