  • A must see the mosaics and frescoes from Pompeii and other sites. But there are also statues, grandiose. And many other things... We did it before going to Pompeii, this allows to better realize what it was before going on-site.

  • further essential a visit to Pompeii and Herculaneum, the staging of collections is a bit dusty. It took a little rowing to interest the last 6 years.

  • Large and great museum-you are greeted by a giant horse head in bronze, which unfortunately only became a head. Further into the collections are very different from Pompeij, so don't miss this museum! Mosaics, fireplaces, sculptures, glass o ceramics are just a few examples of the Museum's collections from the excavations of Pompeij.

  • Several exhibitions were closed on the day, but we weren't warned on entry which was a bit of a shame. Having read reviews it seemed a must-see if you'd explored Herculaneum and Pompeii but we didn't agree (our opinion obviously - others will disagree). Some parts were interesting. The temporary exhibition was just in Italian (again, this would be fine for others...given it is Italy!). Thought it was a bit expensive for what it was also.
  • Amazing museum. Lots to see. Didn't get a chance to hit everything but what I did see was amazing. The handheld audio tour guides enhanced the experience. If you go on a free day, make sure to hit it right at opening. There were only a few other people there when we showed up but it got very busy very fast. Would go back.
  • Amazing selection of Roman art. Can enter and return on same ticket on same day so great for spending day and going out for lunch. Can easily spend a day here. The Romans had some good home decorations.
  • Amazing collection, especially the mosaics and frescoes from Pompeii and Herculaneum. I would appreciate some extended descriptions and contextualisation for the exhibits. Apart from this really an excellent museum, just a shame some parts were closed off when we were visiting.
  • Excellent museum experience today! The private Egyptian collections were fascinating and the museum’s collection of Pompeii Mosaics was terrific. (Note: there is one room of Pompeii artifacts, attached to the mosaics, I would recommend discretion.)
