Galleria Borbonica, Naples

Walk the underground tunnels at Galleria Borbonica, which that once connected a royal palace to army barracks and served as a bomb shelter during World War II. In the 16th century, 300 years before Bourbon king Ferdinand II decided to build a military underground passage, the tunnel housed water tanks for the city. You can still see the tanks, along with vintage cars, motorcycles, and fascist statues that were thrown away. One of the three available tours includes a raft ride in an abandoned subway tunnel filled with water. • Wow... Totally blown away by this place. Did not know relly what to expect. There are 2 enterances, one there are 90 steps to go down and one on the level.. Tours are timed, so you may have to wait a ...  more »
  • I visited this place at a concert. The place is very impressive and the guys who care, prepared and thoughtful. There is the option to choose more than one path also depending on physical training, being one of these more challenging. I recommend it, maybe at some event, given that they play different in this location.

  • We understand the great commitment of the young people involved in the recovery of this important site. Is a little-known aspect of the history of Naples. Upgradeable.

  • This is a tour that is unlike any other I’ve been on! You get the see the true history of Naples and Italy in general by touring this tunnel! Claudia was our guide and was super friendly and welcomed questions. The ticket price was even affordable. I would definitely recommend coming here!
  • Turned up on time. Was made to wait 40 minutes outside while every language bar english was invited In, including guests who arrived considerably late. Was then told it's cash only. No apology from the staff re the late start. Wouldn't give them a second opportunity.
  • Amazing tour - would even say one of the best guided tours I had recently. Interesting place and funky friendly guide with a great sense of humor. It could be longer but it took about an hour. There are a set times for tours in english but there was not as many visitors as we expected so it was really nice. We were here in the start of April (start of the tourist season) so no booking required - just went there randomly and were advised that the tour in EN will start in an hour. There's few coffee places near to wait. It is colder inside so it's good to have a jacket. Do note that you will finish the tour in the different side of the tunnel. Also the place accepts credit cards which we found really convinient (not really as usual as you would expect in Napoli).
  • The place is extraordinary but I didn't like the guided tour. We couldn't see the abandoned cars because other groups were visiting the place at the same time. The guide improvised the route and the explanations. More organization would be appreciated, the ticket costs 10 euros.
  • Amazing experience. The history under the city of Naples is unfolded during the visit by passionate guides.
